Besides writing my own service checker watchdog (as service or scheduled task). Somehow Windows seems to think the service shutdown in this case was intentional or so. There is the additional issue, that Windows service automatic restart doesn't kick in on this one, even though that works fine for other service issues. The crash dump seems to indicate there may be an issue with imageio, which is used by CeWolf (JFreeChart) JSPs in a Tomcat webapp. I have web applications running on Tomcats on several servers, which crash Tomcat with EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION, something like once a month per server.
